East Oktibbeha County High School Outdoor ClassroomBegun in 2002, the CSTC designed and built an outdoor classroom for East Oktibbeha County High School; it was completed and opened in 2008. Okolona Downtown ParkIn 1997, Okolona community leaders contacted the CSTC for help in designing and building a community park in the downtown area. You can also search for projects by their town on the Projects by Town page.Mississippi Bypass GuidelinesThe CSTC is completing a study of the impact of highway bypasses on Mississippi towns, and proposing ways to improve them and mitigate the impact they have on the viability of downtown development. Starkville Transit Feasibility StudyThe CSTC completed a transit feasibility study to develop plans for a bus system for the residents of Starkville, MS. Bike Starkville! And Walk, too!In the spring of 2003, the CSTC began working on the Bike Starkville! And Walk Too! project to explore feasibility and develop plans for bicycle and pedestrian access throughout the city of Starkville and the MSU campus. Oxford / Ole Miss Transit Feasibility StudyIn conjunction with the City of Oxford, a transit feasibility study was completed by the CSTC, leading to an implementation plan for a transit system in Oxford, MS. Choctaw TransitEarly in 2009 a ground-breaking collaboration was established between the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians (MBCI) and the CSTC to provide analysis and guidance for the further development of the Choctaw Transit System. Exploring Contemporary Suburbia in MississippiFrom a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, the CSTC is researching and documenting suburban development within the state and developing an outreach and advertising campaign about its impacts. Design for Elected Officials SeminarA yearly seminar, the Design for Elected Officials Seminar urges local elected officials to promote good design within their communities. CREATE Common Ground: West PointIn conjunction with the CREATE Foundation and the City of West Point, the CSTC and several students proposed projects focusing on improving the built environment of the city and bringing tourists into the downtown. CREATE Common Ground: FultonIn Spring 2007, the CSTC, funded by the CREATE Foundation, held its annual community design seminar focused on developing downtown revitalizations strategies for the City of Fulton. Architectural Design Guidelines for the City of TupeloWorking with students in the School of Architecture, the CSTC developed design guidelines for historic neighborhoods in Tupelo. B.B. King Blues Museum and Adult Literacy CenterIn 2003, the CSTC and a design studio at the School of Architecture completed a feasibility student for the B.B. King Blues Museum in Indianola, MS. The museum opened in 2007. City of Greenville Bobby Henry Memorial Pool RevitalizationThe City of Greenville and the CSTC partnered to redesign and revitalize the currently unused Bobby Henry Memorial Pool, a historic city amenity. Howard Street RevitalizationThe CSTC developed plans for the implementation of pedestrian friendly amenities and streetscape improvements to Howard Street in Greenwood, MS. Fulton Pavilion and ParkThrough the CREATE Foundation, the CSTC and several students provided the City of Fulton with suggestions for downtown improvements, including the design of a pavilion and city park. The De Kalb Master Planning ProcessIn conjunction with the City of Dekalb, the CSTC developed a master plan for capital improvements and proposed additions to the city's downtown. A Plan for Blue Mountain College's Downtown PresenceThe Carl Small Town Center provided a comprehensive plan for expansion and town relations for Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS. Bonita Lakes Multifamily HousingIn Spring 2001, a joint architectural studio was created that included landscape architecture and architecture students to address the growth and need for housing in the Meridian-Bonita Lakes area. Mississippi Industries for the Blind Architectural ProgramIn 2007, the CSTC was approached to create a generalized architectural program for the expansion of the existing structure housing the Mississippi Industries for the Blind. Central Mississippi Health Services Needs AssessmentIn the Fall of 2007, the CSTC completed a feasibility and design study of the current site and proposed an addition to the existing building.
